The following are the people and companies we have found to be reliable, reasonably priced and friendly or have been specifically recommended by our friends and customers. McFarlane’s are fast, responsive and fairly priced plus – what they fix stays fixed. Appliance Sales: Famous Tate – We always go to the one at 8317 Armenia. Be sure and check out the “scratch and dent “in the lower level. There are 16 million bicycles in Holland and 15 million people. Bike Shops are big business. Well, Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium would get a high rating in Holland and they certainly get it in TampaBay. He’s the owner, the measurer and the installed and he does good work. He did our house. Carpet Cleaning: BaySoft Carpet Cleaning (in Wesley Chapel) is recommended by Linda Rothrock. Plus, when it comes to cleaning tips around the home Carolyn is an expert.. She will take on special, one-time projects but you want her for regular visits. Fencing: Dave and Pat Riggs moved into Wilderness Lake and hired the Family Fence Company of Florida to put in a fence. Michael Kennedy (the owner) took care of all the permits and the HOA application and put in 351 feet of fence in a morning. He came in on time and on budget. The Riggs are very pleased. We looked and looked and finally found Largo Piping & Gas. They completely repaired, replaced and renewed our fireplace. It works perfectly. The price was reasonable, the service professional. Call for an appointment – 813.264.2055 Hardware Store: There’s Lowes and there’s HomeDepot but if you want a genuine, old fashioned hardware store built on great, friendly service with lots of experience and advice thrown in, check out Harvey’s Hardware on Land O Lakes Blvd just a few doors north of the Post Office. Heating/Air Conditioning/Emergency Service: Airprompt offers 24 hour emergency service. We’ve used them (on a Saturday night) once and they came quickly, kept all their promises, did good work and charged a fair price. 727.844.7893 Heating/Air Conditioning: Ierna Heating & Cooling in Lutz. We’ve used Ierna several times and their technicians are knowledgeable, efficient and very informative. They’ll help you understand you’re A/C system and how to care for it. Prices are fair. They’re friendly and keep their promises including appointment times. 813.948.6355 Hotel: We haven’t stayed at our brand new Hampton Inn & Suites but it is a treat to have a hotel so close for a change. We’ve visited it and the staff seems friendly. They stick to a regular schedule and if a problem crawls in they come back fast. Plumber: Paul King is a licensed plumber and he has been recommended by Lana Brener. Our view, a recommendation from Lana is as good as it gets. Oldest City in the United States. Great Saturday Morning Market: Downtown St Petersburg – stay for lunch or dinner, walk the park, eat al fresco and check out the Pier and the Vinoy Hotel. Market is open from October to May. Great Beach Bar: Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill right on Clearwater Beach. Turn right at the roundabout and head for the water tower. It’s always crowded but the sunsets are great and the Grouper is fresh. Great Beach Bar not on the beach: Ukelele Brands open air bar and restaurant is located on the west side of Land O lakes Blvd just north of Hale Road. Good basic food, great hamburgers, prime rib and on certain days it’s an all hot dog menu. Dade City trip down memory lane: We think Dade City is really cool plus you have to drive through San Antonio and St Leo (with hills) to get to Dade City and once you’re there – make a reservation to eat at Lunch on Limoges. The food is good and the staff are friendly.
